On Thursday, a devastating collision in Manitoba, Canada, claimed the lives of at least fifteen people. A bus carrying senior passengers and a truck collided at a crossroads near Carberry, located 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg. The busload of passengers was en route to a casino in Carberry when the tragic accident occurred.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the fatalities, with Deputy Police Officer Rob Hill stating that “at least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.” Ten more people are receiving medical care at a local hospital. While both drivers survived, the cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Photographs from the scene showed damaged walking frames and wheelchair seats near the tarpaulins covering the victims.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson have both expressed their condolences.
