Julia Roberts looked almost unrecognizable as she filmed scenes with Ewan McGregor for August: Osage County in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
The 44-year-old actress, best known for her glamorous role as Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman, appeared stripped of makeup and dressed in dowdy clothing for her role as Barbara Weston. Her character is part of a troubled family dealing with the disappearance of their alcoholic patriarch.
During an emotional scene, Julia and Ewan’s character, Bill Fordham, walked to a dock to identify a dead body. Overwhelmed, Barbara breaks down in tears and is comforted by Bill. Despite the heavy scene, Julia was seen laughing between takes alongside co-star Julianne Nicholson.
Roberts wore layered tops and loose jeans, while Nicholson appeared similarly dressed down. The film also stars Meryl Streep, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Juliette Lewis, who replaced Andrea Riseborough. Abigail Breslin played Jean Fordham after Chloë Moretz auditioned for the role.
